Dear friends and neighbors,
Hi. As you have probably heard, I was elected to Goleta’s City Council Tuesday night. Thanks to your help and support, we not only won but I also received the most votes. Kyle Richards also won the other open seat, and by a significant margin.
I regard this victory as one not just for us, but for the central theme we ran on. With your votes, we affirmed the need to re-establish more managed growth, and to protect and preserve of Goleta’s special character and beauty.
Your support made all the difference. We proved that with the right message, a grassroots campaign can succeed, even in the face of a well-financed opposition by special interests.
My understanding is that Kyle and I will be sworn in and begin serving on the City Council on Tuesday, December 6. I hope you will join us in Council chambers at 6:00 PM (usually cake is involved) to celebrate the occasion.
Again I want to thank you for your support. I look forward to hearing your suggestions and concerns, and working with all Goleta residents throughout my term. In the meantime, if you have an innovative idea on addressing our city’s challenges, please send it to me.
